"They made a good effort to understand our business, the process was really smooth, and they’ve been there since, whenever we’ve needed them." Keirin Hoad
Director / Architect
Since 2008, the award-winning team at APG Architects have delivered a diverse range of architectural projects throughout New Zealand and the South Pacific. Their brief to The Cohorts was to create a website that would provide a mobile-friendly, online showcase that demonstrated the range and design excellence of their portfolio.
A key requirement from APG was that the navigation should be simple so that time-poor visitors to the site could easily find what they wanted and get a sense of what APG could deliver.
“Busy people have short attention spans,” APG Director Keirin Hoad says. “We wanted them to be able to find what they were looking for quickly. The site delivers that.”
Navigation is simplified under just two headings; Portfolio and About. The Portfolio section covers the three main areas of APG’s activities; commercial, public and residential. In each section, a page of anchor images provides a quick overview of projects of varying scales. Each anchor image then links to multiple images of a specific project. These highlight particular design features. It’s then just one step back to the sector overview.
While the site had to work well for clients, APG also specified that it had to be easy for their team to manage in-house.
“We are a small team and we don’t have a dedicated person looking after the website,” Keirin says. “We needed the back-end of the site to be user-friendly enough that any of us could go in and update the content. That’s what we have. We are all able to operate it. It’s perfect.”
The Cohorts service also wins plaudits from Keirin.
