Leading intellectual property law firm Baldwins wanted to bring its old text-heavy website “into the 21st Century”, says marketing and communications executive, Emma Senior.

Based in New Zealand with clients worldwide, Baldwins was seeking to overhaul its site, bringing staff to the forefront and allowing clients to search for specific expertise.

Having worked with design company phd3 for 20 years, Baldwins happily took a recommendation to engage The Cohorts.

“Sometimes with partnerships and legal firms like ours there can be complexities and exceptions to the rules, but The Cohorts were understanding, flexible and responsive to our needs,” Emma says.
The Cohorts initially met with Emma and Baldwins’ IT Manager, Mike McGovern.

“We communicated our goals, gave them an overview of the market in which we operate and the message we wanted to convey,” Emma says.

“They provided us with an accurate proposal and costing. The project came in on budget, there were no surprises and they met all our expectations,” says Mike.

“They wanted to deliver a high quality product and there was a feeling they had our backs the whole time.”

In promoting the firm’s talented and varied staff, The Cohorts created search filters on the ‘Our People’ page. Website visitors can search via one or a combination of categories according to a staff member’s position, location, services or industry expertise.

Blog posts link to the profile and contact details of the author, making it easier for the site’s visitors to connect with staff members that have the expertise and knowledge they’re interested in.

“The content management system is very easy to use and other people can pick it up quickly,” says Mike.

“It is a vast improvement on what we had and it future-proofs us for any enhancements and improvements we make going forward.”

Since the site went live in December 2015, Baldwins have received positive feedback from staff and clients - even competitors have found themselves praising the new website.
